Saints Andronikos and Athanasia Wooden Icon
The composition places the two figures side by side, giving each saint a clear presence within the square format. The red, blue, and gold colors create a strong contrast, while a narrow light border separates the sacred image from the reddish wooden edge. Their faces and gestures remain the focus of the artwork.
The main product photograph offers a complete front view of the mounted image. A second photograph shows it from an angle, making the wooden edge and the slim profile easier to see. Together, these views help you understand both the artwork and its physical format before choosing a place to display it.

The Lives of Saints Andronikos and Athanasia
The Life of Saint Andronikos
Saint Andronikos, also called Andronicus, lived in fifth-century Antioch with his wife Athanasia. He worked as a craftsman and shared his income between his household, the Church, and people in need. Following the loss of their two children, the couple dedicated themselves to serving others. Andronikos later entered a monastic community near Alexandria.
The Life of Saint Athanasia
Saint Athanasia shared her husbandโs charitable life and, after their bereavement, embraced monasticism at the womenโs monastery of Tabennisiota. Years later, she traveled toward Jerusalem dressed as a male monk. During this pilgrimage, she and Andronikos met again without recognizing one another, their appearance having changed through years of ascetic life.
Their Shared Life of Prayer
After returning from Jerusalem, they lived in the same cell, devoted to silence and prayer. A written message revealed Athanasiaโs identity after her death. Andronikos died soon afterward. Their shared remembrance honors their charity and lifelong devotion to God.
