Saint Paraskevi – Original Hand-Painted Icon

Saint Paraskevi — Original Hand-Painted Icon

This original hand-painted icon of Saint Paraskevi presents the beloved Orthodox virgin martyr in a deep green mantle against a luminous gold-toned background. She holds a cross and a vessel bearing the image of eyes, details traditionally connected with her iconography and with the prayers offered through her intercession. Her name appears in Greek beside the figure, giving the piece a reverent Byzantine character.

Unlike a printed devotional image, this is an original hand-painted Orthodox icon created on a substantial MDF panel. The visible brushwork, warm gold background, and individual painted details give the icon its own character and presence. It is a meaningful choice for a home prayer corner, family icon wall, church office, or a thoughtful gift for someone devoted to Saint Paraskevi.

Hand-painted Orthodox icon for prayer and display

This Saint Paraskevi icon is suited for buyers who want a devotional piece with more depth and presence than a small mounted print. The portrait composition keeps attention on the saint, while the gold-toned background reflects the traditional visual language of Orthodox iconography. The hand-painted surface gives the icon a personal, crafted quality that makes it appropriate for a special Name Day, feast day, baptism gift, house blessing, or memorial gift.

The icon’s portrait format makes it easy to place on a shelf, prayer table, icon corner, desk, or wall display. It can stand as a single focal point or be displayed together with other Orthodox icons of saints, icons of Christ, and icons of the Theotokos. Because it is hand-painted, small variations in texture, color, and brushwork are part of the character of the piece rather than defects.

About Saint Paraskevi

Saint Paraskevi of Rome is honored in the Orthodox Church as a virgin martyr and is commemorated on July 26. According to Orthodox tradition, she devoted her life to prayer, charity, and the Christian faith. She helped those in need, encouraged others with courage and compassion, and remained steadfast through persecution. Her witness is remembered as an example of faithfulness, purity, endurance, and love for Christ.

Saint Paraskevi is especially associated with prayers for those experiencing difficulties with their eyesight. In traditional Orthodox iconography, this connection is often shown through the vessel bearing the image of eyes. In this icon, the cross and the vessel together point to her martyrdom and to the devotional memory that surrounds her.
